The Bald Soprano

Sound Designer

The Bald Soprano was an exciting challenge, as apart of the two CalArts’ Performance Series shows that I designed. The shows went up in rep, and could not have been more different. It was exciting to draw from nostalgic and vintage sources to create a sort of jukebox vibe for the show. I also drew from language tapes, and the idea of language devolving to create bookending pre show and end of show sequences. Records and radio also played a large role in my design; I recorded radio static as well as record players to layer on existing music in the show. Overall, it was truly fun to work on this project that involved so many of my favorite sound motifs.
